Manchester Chamber Concerts Society Gift Aid Declaration

The Society has the objective of enabling the public to attend performances of chamber music by ensembles of the highest reputation.

The Society gratefully accepts charitable donations to support this objective. The Gift-Aid scheme enables your donation to go further, by allowing the Society to claim tax back from the Inland Revenue. The fundamental principle is that the Society can reclaim the income tax that you have paid on monies which you donate to the Society - it cannot reclaim more than the tax you have paid.

Example: if you give the Society a donation of £100 the Society can reclaim a further £28 from the tax authorities - provided you have actually paid at least £28 in income tax or capital gains tax in the current year. You need make a Gift-Aid declaration once only, and can cancel it by notifying the Society.

Making a donation, and a declaration is easy - simply print and complete the attached downloadable declaration, and send it, with your donation, to the address at the foot of the declaration.

Notes:

• Please notify the Society if you change your name or address while the declaration is still in force.
You can cancel the declaration at any time by notifying the Society - it will not then apply to donations you make on or after the date of cancellation or such later date as you specify.
• You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax which is at least as much as the tax that the Society reclaims on your donation in the current tax year (currently 28p for each £1 which you give).
• If in future your circumstances change and you no longer pay enough income tax or capital gains tax to match what the Society is reclaiming, you can cancel your declaration.
• If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.
• If you are unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, please ask the Society - or you can ask your local tax office for IR113 Gift Aid.
• The purchase of a subscription ticket does not count as a donation for the purposes of the Gift-Aid regulations.
