Introduction from Martin Roscoe

In my second season as Artistic Director of MCCS I’ve tried to cover some areas I didn’t find time for in the first, namely a vocal recital with wonderful tenor James Gilchrist and two concerts including wind players in the shape of James Campbell, the eminent Canadian clarinettist and peerless oboist Nicholas Daniel, both of whom make welcome return visits to us.

With the Engegard Quartet from Norway, the Escher Quartet from the USA and the "home-grown" Navarra Quartet as well as a couple each of international cellists and pianists, the series offers musical variety with players of the highest quality. The series ends with a performance of the Brahms Piano Quintet, which I was astonished to discover has not been heard at MCCS concerts since 1935!
